Curators: Piera Bochner ’12, Veri di Suvero ’12, Francesca Soriano ’12, Paris Starn ’12, Eric Baylin, and Elizabeth Eagle

Read an article about the opening of this unique exhibition on April 24, featuring the work of Mel Bochner, Mark di Suvero, Peter Soriano, and Mike Starn, all internationally known artists and Packer parents. Works for the exhibit were selected by their daughters, Piera Bochner ’12, Veri di Suvero ’12, Francesca Soriano ’12, and Paris Starn ’12, all current seniors at Packer, in consultation with Eric Baylin and Elizabeth Eagle, members of Packer’s Art Department.

  • Mel Bochner is a leading conceptual artist whose language-based works have been exhibited worldwide since the 1960s. 
  • Mark di Suvero’s monumental metal sculpture is featured on Governor’s Island, Storm King Sculpture Center, and in major museums around the world. 
  • Peter Soriano’s resin sculptures and wire installations have been shown regularly at galleries in New York and Paris. 
  • Mike Starn’s large-scale works, created with his brother Doug, have been featured in Stockholm, Venice, and London and include “Big Bambu,” which was installed on the roof of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2010.

Barry Moser: Bookwright

October 13 – November 18, 2011

Curators:  George Snook and Ken Rush

The Packer community welcomed Barry Moser to the Carol Shen Gallery, where he shared a detailed and imaginative collection of his prints, books, and watercolors. The exhibition that has been curated for the Shen Gallery contains images from Mark Twain's Book of Animals, various watercolors from his children's books and breathtaking prints from The Caxton Bible.

Barry Moser exemplifies the qualities of the Renaissance man. He has illustrated more than three hundred books and has received numerous honors and awards, including the National Book Award. His work hangs in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Art, the British Museum, the Morgan Library, the Vatican Library, and the university galleries of Cambridge, Harvard, Princeton, and Yale.
