As members of the New York State Association of Independent Schools Athletics Association, The Packer Collegiate Institute embraces the NYSAISAA's standards for a successful athletic program:
COMPETENCE: A student athlete should be competent in terms of skill development, game knowledge, strategy, fitness, conditioning and healthy behavior.
CHARACTER: A student athlete should demonstrate responsibility, accountability, dedication, trustworthiness, fair play and self-control.
CIVILITY: A student athlete should show civility toward others by exhibiting respect, fairness and caring.
CITIZENSHIP: A student athlete should demonstrate citizenship through actions demonstrating teamwork, loyalty, commitment and role modeling.
The Packer Collegiate Institute Athletics Department is committed to providing a safe and caring place for all students. For that reason we prohibit harassment against students in school and out, including harassment based on real or perceived race, color, weight, national origin, ethnic group, religion, religious practice, disability, sexual orientation, gender (including gender identity and expression) sex, athletic ability, or grade and to prohibit discrimination based on these same characteristics. We will treat each other with respect at all times, and we will not tolerate bullying in any form, including hazing.
It is our belief that “Bullying is participation in any intentional behavior that causes physical, emotional or social damage through the abuse of power.” This can be done either through physical size, social status, intelligence, or other factors that make the bully powerful. We at Packer, have zero tolerance for any such behaviors.
Possible punishments for such behaviors are:
• Team forfeiture of the season
• Individual athlete's expulsion from the team and/or school
• Coach's termination
