The Packer Collegiate Institute is an independent, college preparatory day school providing coeducational programs from Preschool through Grade 12. The oldest independent school in Brooklyn, Packer was founded in 1845 in the historic district of Brooklyn Heights. It has a rich educational history.
A culturally diverse body of approximately 150 teachers comprise the Packer faculty. The student/faculty ratio is 1:7 in the Upper School.
Its 1032 students represent all five boroughs of New York City and parts of New Jersey.
The Packer campus contains over 65 classrooms (more than half fully renovated within the past five years), two libraries, two gymnasiums, a fitness center, a theater, a dance studio, and a dining commons, in addition to its Gothic Revival Chapel and large, open-air Garden.
In 2018 a new Preschool and Kindergarten facility will open at 100 Clinton Street, one block north of the main campus.
