Packer is partnering with Mirimus Labs of Brooklyn to provide each camper and employee with a weekly saliva-based, pooled PCR Covid-19 test.
If you prefer not to participate in our testing program, you must present a negative PCR test result taken within the last 5 days (Wednesday or Thursday prior to coming to camp) when you drop off your camper Monday morning. No exceptions will be made.
Covid-19 Test Drop-Off Schedule
For participation in the Packer pooled testing, the test sample must be dropped off at 170 Joralemon St between 8 and 11 am on Thursday, the week before your child is expected at camp. Late samples will not be accepted.
Covid-19 Test Results: Only Positive Cases Will Be Shared
Packer will receive the results of the weekly pooled testing, and we will report the results to individual families only in the event of a possible positive result for their child. Note that FDA regulations stipulate that a positive pooled-testing result must be followed by an individual PCR test.
Consent
By returning the test vial, you are giving The Packer Collegiate Institute and its Employees permission to obtain a saliva sample from your child to be used for testing purposes. You acknowledge that the saliva sample is to be used for pooled testing to identify the presence of the Covid-19 virus, and your child's identity will not be disclosed to the testing company. Consent extends to permitting Mirimus to engage in follow-up testing as may be deemed appropriate in the event a pool detects the presence of SARS-COV-2.
Privacy
Testing/retesting is conducted on an anonymous or de-identified basis. Specimens are barcoded and not connected to your child's personal information. Only Packer has the identifying data relating the barcode to your child’s identity. We will remove the outside envelope with your child's name on it before shipping the samples to Mirimus to ensure that the lab does not receive any identifying information. This information will be used to contact you in the event that your child is identified as a possible positive case and needs to be retested. All identifying information is confidential, including positive reports.
