Arts Showcase

May Day Arts Festival Honors Dr. Bruce Dennis

For over sixty years, Packer has celebrated music, dance, and visual art at the annual May Day Arts Festival. Sixth Graders traditionally open the event with the Maypole Dance, followed by choral and dance performances by Lower School students.

The 2019 celebration, however, kicked off with a twist — as Preschool and Lower School Head Bill McCarthy announced that the day's performance would be dedicated to Dr. Dennis and his fifteen year legacy as Head of School.

Lower School Music Teacher Pam Cibrano, Preschool Music Teacher Sarah Meadows, and Dance Teacher Alicia White led performances accompanied by some of Dr. Dennis's favorite songs.

Faculty then joined the stage to sing "Don't Stop Believing" and joined the students for a rendition of the Electric Slide, rumored to be Dr. Dennis's favorite dance.

Closing out the event, Bill thanked Dr. Dennis for his service to Packer.

There are countless words and examples that we can share which show the incredible and everlasting impact you have left on all of us here at Packer. You are a shining example of a quintessential educator, leader, mentor, and friend. On behalf of Packer’s Preschool and Lower School, thank you for all that you have done to make our community a safe, caring, and wonderful place to be. We offer you our very best as you begin your next adventure and hope you never forget us — because we will always remember you.

— Bill McCarthy, Preschool and Lower School Head
