In March 2020, as Packer was beginning to release for Spring Break, we were learning the full extent of the pandemic. While the school closed, we remained hopeful that our students would return to our building.
Instead, Packer transitioned to remote learning and the campus was closed for the remainder of the school year. (You can read more about Packer and the pandemic in our most recent issue of The Packer Magazine).
Many of our alumni's most cherished annual traditions — celebrating the last day of school, prom, and walking across the stage at Graduation to pick up their diplomas — were instead postponed indefinitely for the Class of 2020.
It is only appropriate that this spring, Jen Weyburn (Head of School), Maria Nunes (Upper School Division Head), David Minder (Director of Alumni), and Anne Wenk Cashion ’11 (recent graduate from the Alumni Board) welcomed the Class of 2020 at our first official in-person alumni event at Packer.
A majority of the Class of 2020 participated, seeing their classmates for the first time in nearly a year. Each member of the class was given a special Class of 2020 sweatshirt and other Packer memorabilia. This was just one small way we could celebrate the recent graduates after this challenging year.
We are proud of the Class of 2020 and how they persevered in these strange times, and are excited to have them join our alumni community.
