How to Apply

Almost every step of the process begins with logging in to your child's account in Ravenna, our online application tool.

Our procedures vary depending on the grade to which you apply. The lists below walk you through the recommended and required application steps for that grade. We follow The Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY) admissions schedule and procedures.

Procedures for Fall 2025 Admission

Create an Account in Ravenna

To begin the application process, families must create an account in Ravenna at www.ravenna-hub.com.

Through Ravenna, you will be able to start the application process, register for an Open House or Virtual Information Session, delegate teacher recommendation forms directly to your students’ teachers, submit all admissions materials, check the status of your application, and receive admissions decisions.

Note: Your Ravenna login and password are your gateway to the entire application process, so please keep this information handy.

Optional: Register for a Tour and/or Virtual Information Session (Fall)

We are offering Pre-K Threes in-person tours and virtual information sessions. We encourage you to register via Ravenna for both types of events, in either order, to learn about our program and see it in action.

On our Tours, you will have an opportunity to visit the Packer Early Learning Center and our main campus. At the Virtual Information Sessions, you will have an opportunity to hear from some community members, view an "Inside Packer" video, and participate in a question-and-answer session. Both events are for parent(s)/guardian(s) only.

Please note that these events are reserved only for families who are planning to apply to Pre-K Threes for the 2025-26 school year.

Touring Packer (by Invitation)

Submit Parent/Guardian Application, Parent/Guardian Statement, and Fee (by 4pm on Fri Nov 22)

Complete the online application on Ravenna. Once your Parent/Guardian Application, Parent/Guardian Statement, and non-refundable payment of $125 are submitted, you will be placed in an active waitpool. If a space becomes available you will be contacted for an interview.

Reactivating an Application?

If you submitted a Fall 2022 or 2023 application and would like to reapply for the same child, you must submit a new application as indicated in the instructions.

No fee is required; just enter the code Reactivation to bypass the application fee.

Lower School

Open spaces in Grades 1 through 4 are very limited. Applications for these grades are automatically placed in an active waitpool. Interviews will only be conducted as spaces become available.

Fill out the required information in Ravenna [delegate form] to send the ISAAGNY Confidential Teacher Report to your child's current teacher.

First Grade applicants: ISAAGNY Confidential Teacher Report only is required

Second, Third, and Fourth Grade applicants: ISAAGNY Confidential Teacher Report and 2024-25 Transcript/Report Card (1st semester) and 2023-24 Transcript/Report Card (full year) are required. Fill out the required information in Ravenna to send the “Request Transcripts” form to your child's current school.

Due date for completed ISAAGNY Confidential Teacher Report and school records: Thursday, January 9, 2025.

To begin the application process, families must create an account in Ravenna at www.ravenna-hub.com. Please note that Ravenna is only an application portal. For comprehensive information about the admissions process and about Packer, please continue to explore this website.

Through Ravenna, you will be able to start the application process, register for a Middle School Virtual Information Session, email teacher recommendation forms directly to your students’ teachers, submit all admissions materials, check the status of your application, and receive admissions decisions.

Note: Your Ravenna login and password are your gateway to the entire application process, so please keep this information handy. Log in periodically to check for file updates. Please ensure that two-parent families do not create duplicate applications for their child(ren) in Ravenna.

When/if appropriate, Parent 1 and Parent 2 must utilize two (2) unique email addresses, one for each parent/guardian. Should your child(ren) be admitted to Packer, these will serve as your electronic signatures for the enrollment contract. Please do not use an “All Family Email Address” i.e. thepackerfamily@gmail.com.

Submit Preliminary Application and Fee (by 4pm on Fri Nov 22)

We ask that the parent(s)/guardian(s) fill out the preliminary part of the application (the Parent/Guardian Application) by 4:00pm on Friday, November 22, 2024. The second part of the application (the Parent/Guardian Statement) is due by noon on Thursday, January 9, 2025.

While we are likely to have some space in the 5th Grade, enrollment to the Middle School is solely based on attrition. We encourage families to apply for 6th through 8th Grade with the understanding that attrition is less likely.

The application fee is $60 for families applying to 5th Grade. This fee is reduced to $30 for families who are applying for financial aid. Please email Sara Goin, at sgoin@packer.edu, for the financial aid waiver code.

Packer will not charge 6th and 8th Grade applicants the $60 application fee unless they are invited for an interview.

Again, since enrollment consideration to the Middle School is attrition-based, we will not be in touch to schedule interviews for 6th through 8th Grade applicants unless the file is complete and we learn of possible openings in those grades.

Applicants must submit teacher evaluation forms from their current math and English/Humanities teachers. Families may additionally have math and English/Humanities teachers from the previous school year submit evaluation forms via Ravenna (these forms will be “in addition to” the current ’24-25 evaluations, not “in lieu of”). Please note that forms that are completed and/or submitted prior to Wednesday, October 23, 2024, will not be accepted.

Evaluation forms can be sent straight to their teachers through Ravenna (designate each teacher’s email address in Ravenna). Please give your teachers notice early so they can complete and submit the forms before the application deadline. The teachers completing the evaluation forms must have been teaching the student for at least eight weeks.

Submit School Transcripts (by noon on Thurs Jan 9)

School transcripts are required admissions materials. Applicants must submit a full-year transcript from the previous academic year as well as the first-term/fall transcript from the current academic year. Please ask your child's current school to upload transcripts directly to Ravenna. If they are having trouble uploading transcripts directly to Ravenna, please have them contact Ravenna customer care by sending an email to customercare@ravennasolutions.com.

As we approach the application deadline, it takes time for us to process the incoming applications. We ask that you please be patient and refrain from calling our office to inquire as to your child’s application status. We encourage you to log in to Ravenna periodically to check your file status.

Interview by appointment

For applicants to 5th Grade, the Admissions Office will be in touch to schedule an interview after you have submitted the Parent/Guardian Application. Please plan for approximately 90 minutes to complete the tour and interview step, which includes a conversation with parents/guardians.

Parents of prospective students applying to 5th Grade will have an opportunity to chat with the interviewer once their child(ren) have completed the one-on-one interview.

To be considered, if we learn of potential spaces in the relevant grade for 6th through 8th Grade applicants, you must complete the full application for our review. This includes the following:

To register for the event, log in to Ravenna and reserve a space. Spaces may be limited.

Note: This event is for applicants to the 9th Grade only. You do not need to apply to Packer in order to register/attend an Open House.
