As college counselor, what do you do for Packer?
I work to guide students to find, apply to and choose educational homes after Packer that will be great places for them to grow and thrive academically and personally. I work very closely one-on-one with juniors and seniors and their parents in addition to working closely with the college counseling team to support each student fully.
Besides your subject, what’s something you hope to teach your students?
I hope to teach my students to recognize that they each have unique gifts and strengths and that choosing the right college is less about its reputation and much more about finding a place that will support you as you grow into the person you hope to become.
What is something that most Packer people wouldn't know about you?
Most people don’t know that I secretly yearn to invent something really useful and practical like a paper clip or a Post-it note. I’m constantly trying to think of new ideas -- the only problem is my day job keeps me so busy, I never get to follow through on any of them!
If you had an inspirational fridge magnet (and we’re not saying you would), what would it say and why?
It would say “Be faithful to that which exists nowhere but in yourself -- and thus make yourself indispensable.” I wrote this quote on my high school yearbook page and still believe firmly in the idea that each of us possesses something unique within ourselves. If we tap into that uniqueness, we can make the greatest contribution to the community and world around us.
