Know Your Pelicans

Can you describe a favorite or memorable moment you've had at Packer?

Last year, a group of students came up to my desk and asked if I would like to be part of their movie for film class. I happily obliged and made my film debut at the end of the year.

What do you enjoy most about working for an independent school?

Although Packer is the only school that I have had an opportunity to work for, it provides a nurturing, family-like environment that makes me excited to wake up for work every morning.

Name a book/artwork/piece of music that changed your life and explain how.

As a teenager, I enjoyed disco music. Although it didn’t impact my life in any particular way, listening to the music today allows me to reflect on the many memories I made during that era in my life.

Growing up, did you have a teacher who was particularly influential for you?

During my time in school, no teacher really had the impact on my life that many of the teachers at Packer have on students now. My wife, however, is a teacher, and she has undoubtedly been the greatest influence on my life. Over the years, she has shared many stories about her experiences as a pre-school teacher, and these stories have translated into my work at Packer in my interactions with students and their families.

What is something most Packer people wouldn't guess about you?

For 20 years, I was a New York City Corrections Officer on Rikers Island.
