Middle School Math Teacher
Know Your Pelicans
What do you teach? What is one of your favorite parts of the curriculum?
I teach math in the middle school. Geometry is one of my favorite parts of the curriculum, especially the Pythagorean Theorem and solid geometry.
Tell us about a specific time you found your job especially rewarding.
Some of the best times in math class happen when students have a “lightbulb” moment, and they exclaim, “Oh, now I get it!” It is very satisfying for them and me.
What’s one thing you love about your colleagues?
The Packer faculty are an amazing group of people. I could talk about how accomplished and dedicated they are as educators or how generous they are with their time and knowledge. But what I love the most is simply hanging out in the commons with them, because there is such a wide variety of interests, experiences and philosophies, that conversations can take unpredictable paths.
What is your favorite space on campus and why?
I love the Packer garden. I have a lot of happy memories from there including watching my daughters during May Day dances and graduations.
