Lower School Counselor, Health Educator
Know Your Pelicans
What are your impressions of Packer so far? Our students? Your colleagues?
I am incredibly grateful for both the Health and Lower School teams. The sense of community here is strong, and I find it incredibly fulfilling to be able to support students through health education.
What do you teach? What is one of your favorite parts of the curriculum?
As a health educator in the lower school, my favorite parts of the curriculum are witnessing students develop their emotional awareness and becoming comfortable with exploring their values and identities.
Why do you teach? What do you like about being a teacher?
I wasn't able to fully learn what I currently teach until long after my K-12 experience. My hope for this generation, and those in the future, is that they are able to develop foundational emotional intelligence, empathy and self care skills, that will support their growth and development through every stage of their life.
Outside of your job at Packer, what do you love to do?
Outside of Packer, I love to host my family and friends! I enjoy planning the food and entertainment—especially a competitive and fun game night.
Besides your subject, what's something you hope to teach your students?
Recently I've been thinking about how much I loved jumping rope as a kid. Maybe I can teach some of the students how to jump double dutch once the garden is back (and I practice).
