As the Assistant Head of Pre and Lower School, what do you do for Packer?
I work closely with the Head of the Pre and Lower School to create the best possible learning environment for our students and our faculty. This means making sure the members of our community have the tools, the time, and the support they need to do the great work they want to do. I also aim to inspire them to keep growing and learning as part of a large extended family.
You are new to Packer. What made you excited to work here?
From the moment I walked through the main hall, the people I met extended a warm welcome to me and shared their curiosity and joyous spirit. I knew that I would be able to thrive here at Packer because I sensed this overwhelming notion that Packer makes choices based on what is best for the children. Furthermore, the school is committed to reexamining itself to make sure it is always getting better.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
Having been a classroom teacher for over 25 years, I love having the ability to make a teacher's work feel a little easier, whether it is connecting them with professional development, communicating with families, working with students, sharing words of encouragement, etc. I keep learning more and more ways I can do this effectively.
What is something that most Packer people wouldn't know about you?
I have run the New York City marathon every year since 1996.

If I am ever feeling down, there are three things that can always pull me out of a funk:
1. Making music
2. Dancing
3. Playing basketball
... But that doesn't mean I am particularly good at any of them.
What’s one thing you love about your colleagues?
My colleagues are some of the hardest working and passionate people I know. I am continuously awed by their brilliance, creativity, thoughtfulness, and openness to learning. They inspire me to do my very best to help them achieve whatever goals they set for themselves.
