What do you teach? What is one of your favorite parts of the curriculum?
I teach Middle School and Upper School Latin. One of my favorite parts of Latin is the rich cultural and historical depth of the language.
Tell us about a time you learned something from our students.
I learn from my students all the time. Sometimes it can be English derivatives of Latin words, obscure mythological creatures, or learning about current pop culture references.
Besides your subject, what’s something you hope to teach your students?
Definitely to be self learners. We are all students for life, and the more curious and engaged we are in the world, the more rewarding our lives will be.
If you had an inspirational fridge magnet (and we’re not saying you would), what would it say and why?
Audentis fortuna iuvat (Fortune favors the bold). This is one of my favorite quotes from the Latin poet Vergil. It inspires me to take risks.
