Head of School
Know Your Pelicans
As the Head of School, what do you do for Packer?
I provide overall leadership for the School, supervising the three Division Heads and a number of other key staff members. An important part of my work is ensuring that every aspect of Packer is functioning at the highest possible level, so that we are able to provide the best possible educational experience for all of our students.
What is something that most Packer people wouldn't know about you?
I play tennis every weekend and enjoy spending time at the gym. Going to movies and theater with my wife are my favorite social pastimes. I also have a strong interest in professional comedy, something that I share with my grown son, who is stand-up comedian.
What's one thing you love about your Packer colleagues?
I love my colleagues' dedication and commitment to their students. I am constantly impressed by the faculty and staff's work ethic and their high level of engagement with our students — and this is equally true in Lower, Middle, and Upper School. This contributes to the strong relationships that exist at Packer, which I continue to believe is one of our School's most significant, defining attributes.
What is your favorite space in the building?
My favorite space in the building is the Chapel because it emanates a sense of history from its walls and represents to me, in a way no other part of the School does, that we are part of something larger than ourselves and more important than just this moment in time. When I speak to Packer alums, the Chapel is the one spot they all remember most fondly, and today, still, it is the space in which students often gather for a variety of activities that enrich our community. I just wish it were air conditioned!
