Campus and Facilities

Packer is just steps from the Borough Hall subway station and one stop from Wall Street. Families come from far and wide to be a part of the Packer community.

Packer has been located at 170 Joralemon Street since our founding in 1845. Since then, we have expanded many times to accommodate our program and our student body. Carefully maintaining a balance between tradition and modernity, the campus now includes seven interconnected buildings and the Packer Early Learning Center. One block north at 100 Clinton Street, the Early Learning Center houses our PreK and Kindergarten program. At the heart of our campus is the newly-renovated Packer Garden, a unique outdoor space in the midst of a thoroughly urban setting.

A New Home for the Lower School: Garden House Renovation

In fall of 2025, Packer unveiled a transformed campus, featuring the new and expanded Garden House along with a fully renovated Garden. The project's design ambitions were rooted in a sustainable, human-centered approach to crafting highly effective environments for early learning. The effort involved the renovation of an existing 8,200 square foot landmarked brownstone, paired with a 17,250 square foot expansion. The space was designed in conjunction with WXY architecture + urban design.

The result is a stunning new purpose-built home for our Lower School. This innovative space features a sustainable wood structure and a brick façade made of 100% recycled clay content. Natural light-filled classrooms connect students to nature, and dedicated floors for each grade offer a strong sense of place and community.

The Packer Garden was also renovated, and serves as a model of sustainable landscape design that improves air and water quality. New state-of-the-art play structures and seating, improved accessibility, and thoughtful landscaping create a more open plan, better flow throughout areas of the Garden, and more welcoming entries to both the Garden House and the patio.

The completion of the Garden House and Garden renovation was the culmination of more than twenty years of visionary thinking about a home base for every phase of student learning at Packer. The project completion also provided additional space for our Upper School program in Founder's Hall. The re-envisioned campus provides an innovative, dynamic, and sustainable learning environment for our students.
