4th Grade Trip to Ashokan Field Campus
December 5-7, 2005
All students, teachers, and assistant teachers from the 4th grade spent three days and two nights at the Ashokan Field Campus, December 5-7, 2005.
Children participated in broommaking, tinsmithing, blacksmithing, gorge hikes, animal feeding, firewood chopping, and beaver tracking. "The colonial crafts and hands-on activities go hand-in-hand with our 4th Grade social studies curriculum, where the children take on the identities of various artisans during colonial times," says 4th Grade teacher Grace Sur.
Situated in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, the Ashokan program is affiliated with the State University of New York at New Paltz.
