Playgroup

2009-10

Please note the changes in Playgroup that are effective with the start of the 2009-10 school year.

The Playgroup has a dedicated space, which is often shared by other classes during the school day.

Playgroup begins in the Commons.  Students are brought their by their classroom teachers.  They sit as a group and eat a snack with head Playgroup teacher John Dixon and Katie Cheek before being escorted to the Playgroup room at 3:30 p.m.

All children participate in Garden play except during inclement weather.  Appropriate attire is necessary as the winter approaches.  Playgroup can be combined with after school courses.  A discount is offered to children who come to Playgroup after a Packer Plus course.

Playgroup students will be charged on an hourly basis of $12 ($9 an hour for those students who utilize Playgroup directly after a Packer Plus course,) regardless of the portion of an hour spent in Playgroup.  Billing will be based on attendance.  Families will be billed monthly for Playgroup services.

Packer Plus Playgroup meets every school day from 3:10 to 5:55 p.m.  The Playgroup is intended for children age 5 through 4th grade. On early dismissal Tuesdays the Playgroup will begin at 2:10 p.m.  The Playgroup does not meet on days Packer closes at noon.

While we would prefer Playgroup registration to occur at the start of the semester, we are aware that with parenthood comes unexpected childcare issues.  If you are certain that you will utilize Playgroup at least once a week on a regular basis, please be in touch with your child's teacher and me, cnwoke@packer.edu.

If you need to use Playgroup for an emergency, please contact your child's classroom teacher as well as me.  Your child's teacher is the person responsible for escorting your child to Playgroup.  I need to be contacted to be sure that there is enough room and supervision in Playgroup so that all present are comfortable. Children can be picked up anytime between 3:10 and 5:55 p.m.  We do not extend beyond 5:55 p.m. and ask parents to be prompt.  There will be a charge of $2 for each additional minute after 6:00 p.m. and persistent lateness could result in dismissal from the program.

Any change in a program can be confusing so please do not hesitate to phone or write me at the number and email below should you have any questions.

Thank You,

Chuck Nwoke
