May Fair Lady
Upper School Spring Musical
April 28-30, 2017
This April, Upper School students presented Lerner and Loewe's My Fair Lady. Much-loved numbers ("Wouldn't It Be Loverly," "I'm Getting Married in the Morning," "The Ascot Gavotte") accompanied the tale of Professor Higgins's wager that he can transform flower girl Eliza Doolittle into a lady by teaching her to speak "properly." Social conflict, out-and-out misogyny, and high comedy led to an emotional reckoning with the tables turned and genuine human feeling finally allowed its place. A large cast directed by Ali Boag and choreographed by Mandy Stallings brought what is widely regarded as "a perfect musical" to new life.
