Darrin Fallick Appointed Athletics Director
Head of School Bruce Dennis is pleased to announce the appointment of Darrin Fallick as Packer's new Director of Athletics, effective July 1, 2010. Mr. Fallick comes to Packer with nine years of experience in athletic program leadership, seven at The Hewitt School and the past two years at Claremont Prep in Lower Manhattan.
“I am fully confident that Darrin possesses the ability and experience needed to take athletics at Packer to new levels of excellence and to build on the fine work that Rich Domanico has done over the past two and a half decades," said Dr. Dennis.
Below is a letter from Mr. Fallick to the Packer community:
April 24, 2010
Dear Packer Parents and Students,
I am extremely excited to accept the position of Director of Athletics at The Packer Collegiate Institute. I have always been impressed by Packer’s high level of standards for academics, athletics, and the arts, and my interactions with the Packer community during the hiring process only solidified these impressions.
I would like to tell you a bit about the path that has led me to Packer. I began my teaching career at The Hewitt School 16 years ago and during the last seven of those years served as the school’s Director of Athletics. During that time I taught physical education in the Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools, served as an Upper and Middle School advisor, represented the faculty on the Board of Trustees, and held the positions of AAIS League Vice-President and President. I also coached volleyball, basketball, soccer, tennis, and track and field at all levels of play.
Two years ago, I became the Director of Athletics at Claremont Preparatory School. At Claremont, I have focused on growing a new athletics program and supporting, as a grade level coordinator, the academic and emotional development of the school’s Middle School students. At the same time, I have also assumed a more active role in state athletics governance. In September 2009, I was elected to a three-year term on the NYSAIS Athletic Directors Committee.
I am eager to bring my experience and expertise in athletics to Packer, and I look forward to working closely with and getting to know all of you. Together with Packer’s exceptional coaching staff and supportive administration, I am confident we can build on the strong sports foundation already in place and take Packer Athletics to new heights!
As the school year winds down, I hope to introduce myself to each of you at an ACIS track and field event, at a boy’s volleyball game, or during one of my planned visits to Packer. I promise to bring the excitement I feel about these introductions with me to Packer every day once I assume my new responsibilities on July 1.
Go Pelicans!
Best,
Darrin Fallick
